A personal favourite as it’s where Simon often takes his kids swimming.

We’re excited to welcome Simon Bell to Neuron as our newest Director.
It’s hard to believe it’s already over a month since Simon Bell joined Neuron as a Director. Simon brings over 25 years of experience leading building services engineering teams, but what has stood out most in his first few weeks is how quickly he’s become part of the Neuron family.
We caught up with Simon to hear about his first impressions, the opportunities he sees ahead, and a few of the projects that shaped his career.Settling In
“From day one, the Neuron team has been incredibly warm and welcoming. Everyone has gone out of their way to make me feel included, and it already feels like home. A moment that meant a lot to me was when Ben (James) and Steve (Cassells) said it felt like I’d been part of the team for years—that really made my day.”
Early Impressions
One of the things Simon has noticed quickly is Neuron’s strong reputation in the industry.
“In just a few weeks, it’s been clear how highly Neuron is regarded. That makes conversations with clients much easier, and the feedback has been really encouraging. Right now, demand is particularly high for rapid feasibility assessments and cost analysis at the early stages of site acquisitions and planning. Neuron is uniquely positioned to help, giving clients fast, data-driven insights that support better decision-making.”
Of course, the wider market brings challenges too, such as rising construction costs, interest rate pressures, and skills shortages.
“These are sector-wide issues,” Simon says, “but what excites me is how Neuron helps clients navigate them more strategically and with greater confidence.”

Adding Clarity and Value for Clients
Having worked with both Tier 1 and Tier 2 consultancies, Simon recognises the shift Neuron is making in the industry.
“Traditional approaches can take weeks to deliver outcomes that Neuron provides in minutes. The ability to re-run different scenarios without delay or hidden costs is a game changer. It gives clients clarity and control in a way that’s both efficient and empowering.”
Looking Ahead
Simon sees great opportunity for Neuron to partner with clients right from the start of their projects.
“By aligning infrastructure and equipment choices with budgets early on, we help maximise return on investment and unlock the full potential of each development. It’s about adding real, measurable value at every step.”
A Leadership Approach
When asked about his leadership style, Simon’s answer is simple but heartfelt.
“Regular communication is key to keeping a team happy and connected. Recognition matters too—celebrating wins, no matter how small, keeps us motivated. I also believe in creating space for people to try new things, bring their own ideas, and find creative solutions. Flexibility and trust go a long way in building a strong team culture.”
Some Memorable Projects
Before joining Neuron, Simon worked on a number of landmark projects that continue to inspire him today. A few standouts include-
A personal favourite as it’s where Simon often takes his kids swimming.
A fully refurbished hotel that has gone on to receive multiple awards.
The tallest residential tower in the city.
An iconic project with a lasting legacy.
These experiences have given Simon a broad perspective on the built environment and the potential for engineering to add value to communities.
We’re delighted to have Simon on board and look forward to the journey ahead. His first month has already brought fresh energy, insights, and optimism for the future—and we can’t wait to see what’s next for Neuron.
